Teknor sells PVC colorant business to Breen
The PVC segment of Teknor Color’s (Pawtucket, RI) colorant business was acquired by Breen Color Concentrates (Lambertville, NJ) for an undisclosed sum. The PVC colorants are produced at Teknor’s facility in Attleboro, MA, which will continue during a short-term period until transfer of the business to Breen’s plant in Lambertville has been completed. This PVC colorant business will merge with Breen’s under a new company called East Coast Colorants, established by Spell Capital Partners (Minneapolis, MN), which has recently purchased Breen.

Because of its rail access, Teknor will use the Attleboro plant, the company’s oldest facility, located a few miles from Teknor’s world headquarters, for offloading of chemicals. According to Jonathan Riley, VP and business director of Teknor Color, the sale will not affect Teknor’s other manufacturing locations in Jacksonville, TX and Henderson, KY. An expansion of the Henderson plant costing approximately $1 million was completed last month, which included a new facility for producing dry color.
“This is a perfect fit,” says Howard DeMonte, president of Breen. “Teknor’s product line and customer base complements our market focus. A seamless transition with consistent product quality and service for our new customers will be our main objective.” —[email protected]
