Valve/Sensor Systems Upgrade Conveyors

Valve/Sensor Systems Upgrade Conveyors

Do you have an older roller or belt conveyor that needs valve, wiring and/or plumbing upgrades? Humphrey Products now offers three electro-pneumatic valve/sensor systems for pneumatically actuated accumulation conveyor systems operating in singulation mode or dual-zone sensing and function.

Instead of relying on sensor rollers and mechanically operated pneumatics, the Series 555/565/575 systems can be used with a variety of sensors to electrically operate the pneumatic actuators that control drive belts, brakes and carrier rollers or belts.

All three versions use the same platform, though the internal logic is different. The Series 555 is a basic system designed to work on accumulation conveyors that use 'pucks,' clutches or other pneumatic actuators to provide power to the rollers or belt when the air signal is supplied.

The 555 works in singulation mode, where each valve is controlled by a single downstream sensor. This is said to eliminate the need for sensor rollers and mechanically operated pneumatics.

Both the 565 and 575 are designed to work in a dual-zone sensing mode where each valve is controlled by two sensors. The sensor connected directly to the valve module is located in the same zone as the valve.

Like the 555, the 565 is designed to work on accumulation conveyors that use 'pucks,' clutches or other pneumatic actuators to provide power to the rollers or belt when the air signal is supplied. The 575 works with conveyors that use an air signal to apply brakes to stop the rollers or belt.

All units are supplied as a complete module, with electrical quick-connects, made-to-order cabling and integrated pneumatic fitting connections. The 555 also incorporates Humphrey's electronically controlled HK5 diaphragm-poppet valve, which is said to be more reliable and less noisy than mechanically actuated sensor rollers.

The 565 and 575 feature built-in logic control for easy changeover from singulation mode to slug mode operation. Photoelectric sensing means there are no minimum weight restrictions. This allows for control of various carton sizes and loads simultaneously.

Prices start at $90. Units can be retrofit on any type of conveyor.
