Wireless wrench tallies torque

What’s dubbed as a revolutionary torque wrench system brings quality control and safety benefits to the assembly line. The TALS wireless torque wrench system performs online monitoring of critical fasteners to ensure the line will only move when the required number of fastening operations carried out at the correct torque has been confirmed.

Supplied by Mountz (San Jose, CA), the TALS wrench is equipped with a small battery-powered transceiver at the end of its handle in place of a cord attachment. When a preset torque is reached, the wireless torque wrench sends an FM signal to the TALS Core monitoring device that records the fastener as fastened. If a fastening error is detected, remedial action can be taken.

TALS also allows for easy data sharing. After readings have been recorded, users can download these readings and wrench data for SPC analysis and create quality control documents.

Without the hazards of cables, the TALS wireless wrench system also provides a safe operating environment and reduces potential work-related injuries, as operators don’t need to worry about tripping on cords. With the cost for worker’s compensation continuing to increase, manufacturers are looking for smart cost-effective assembly torque tool solutions that reduce time and expenses as well as help lessen the costs of insurance claims.
