Amcor acquires Encon’s preform business

Global packaging company Amcor (Melbourne, Australia) has purchased privately-owned Encon (Dayton, OH) for $55 million and will be bringing the preform manufacturing business into its rigid plastics group based in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

amcor-rigid-plastics-office.jpgEncon, a woman-owned company, operates from four manufacturing sites, producing the majority of preforms from one large scale plant located in Dayton, Ohio, generating revenues of around $110 million annually. The company services both Amcor's existing customers and new customers within the beverage, food and household sectors.

Amcor CEO and Managing Director, Ron Delia said: "This acquisition provides an excellent opportunity to acquire a well capitalized business at an attractive price. Given the manufacturing overlap, the acquisition will deliver considerable operating synergies and generate strong returns for shareholders."

This purchase comes off the heels of several acquisitions that Amcor made in Brazil, South Africa, China and India over the last twelve months.
