Kiefel breaks ground for a new logistics center

Kiefel_new_logistics_centre.jpgThe official ground-breaking ceremony, attended by the mayor of Freilassing, the managing directors of Kiefel GmbH, Thomas Halletz, Peter Eisl, Dr. Bernd Stein, and Helmut Strecha, the Production Division Manager, was held on August 17, 2015.

The new building will allow work processes to be configured more efficiently, shortening the distances between component delivery and assembly. The new center will be built onto the existing assembly halls, and connected via gates, and will function as a delivery hub. It will also become the area prepare machine components are prepared for installation. The center will also offer space for packing and loading the completed systems, freeing up valuable assembly space in the halls.

Much attention is being paid to sustainability and energy efficiency regarding the technical building equipment.

This expansion is the latest in a long list of improvements here in Freilassing, from the extension of the employee car parks, the installation of air conditioning and associated insulation and façade work done on the assembly halls for medical systems. It represents an important investment in the Freilassing location, at which currently some 450 people are employed.

The company is a global manufacturer which mainly serves customers from the automotive, medical engineering, refrigerator and packaging industries.
