Invulnerable tip assembly

Article-Invulnerable tip assembly

A brand-new type of screw tip assembly has been introduced by Concor Tool & Machine (Hayward, WI) with a double-angle rear seat and a large flat on the forward end, so materials flow faster, while developing more pressure to force the check ring to accurately shut off, shot-after-shot. It’s trademarked the Veloci-T.

It’s manufactured from a practically indestructible material—a powdered metal, high-speed tool steel—like the tool steel used in drill bits and cutting tools—with a vanadium carbide content and a red hardness high enough to make it almost invulnerable to wear. All of its surfaces are ground surfaces.

The Veloci-T is engineered for positive shutoff and optimum flow under the check ring, providing consistent results with a wide variety of different molding materials. Company sources say the product carries a slight price premium.—CK
