Two-platen, quick-clamping hydromechanical

Negri Bossi has designed the Bi-Power series of two-platen hydromechanical machines with a small footprint, quick clamping, and low energy consumption. Clamp sizes range from 202 to 674 tons (1800 to 6000 kN) with shot capacities of 265 to more than 1600 oz (7.5 kg to more than 45.4 kg). The design of the two-platen clamping unit offers a smaller footprint and flexible mold height and clamp stroke. The clamp force generation system is located on the moving platen to provide symmetrical, uniform application of mold clamp forces. Two traversing cylinders provide rapid open and close speeds for the moving platen assembly. Negri Bossi says that combining this system with the company?s patented locking mechanism provides one of the best clamp-up times in the industry.

The Bi-Power Series uses an a-c electric motor with vectorial control for screw rotation, which reportedly offers low energy consumption. Three phases of simultaneous machine function (screw rotation, clamp opening/closing, and ejection) can be fully controlled. A low-profile design allows for easy access to the molding area, and the parallel axis reduction gearbox is said to decrease noise levels while increasing efficiency.?KH
