Walco adds Chem-Trend’s purging agents to its portfolio

Not long after switching from representing DuPont's to Chem-Trend's mold release agents for rotomolding, distributor Walco Materials Group (San Diego, CA) now also has added Chem-Trend's purging compounds to its portfolio. The move is a new direction and market for Walco but already is proving successful, according to Steve Levine, VP sales and marketing at Walco.

Walco adds Chem-Trend’s purging agents to its portfolio

After 14 years of work together, in 2009 Walco stopped offering DuPont's mold releases for rotomolding and began representing the product line marketed by Chem-Trend. DuPont ended the relationship, said Levine, but he said the move to Chem-Trend's mold releases worked very well, so that Chem-Trend approached Walco about also selling its purging compounds. Walco already offered a broad assortment of materials for electronic, moldmaking, rapid prototyping, medical, industrial and automotive manufacturing, but purging compounds was new for the firm.

With the new arrangement, Walco becomes one of the few authorized distributors of Chem-Trend's thermoplastics product line, which includes not only purging agents but also release agents. Chem-Trend offers purging compounds for injection and blowmolding plus extrusion.

Other distributors of Chem-Trend's purging compounds, all recently appointed, include Sun Distribution and Sales (Indianapolis, IN), which will distribute Chem-Trend's purging compounds, mold maintenance products and rotational molding products. Reaction Polymers (Salt Lake City, UT) will distribute purging compounds in the Southwestern U.S., while Concor Tool will distribute purging compounds and mold maintenance products in the mountain states region of the U.S. and in Northern Mexico. —[email protected]
