Training program targets hot runner systems

With a scheduled release in early 2002, employers can soon grab a copy of a new course on hot runner injection molding. The four-lesson curriculum, entitled Hot Runner Molding Solutions, combines 3-D technology with digital video imaging to go inside the mold and hot runner to examine the many components that make up the system. In addition to examining system construction and how the plastic flows through it, the program also demonstrates effective setup and operating techniques and procedures.

More specifically, lesson topics include the nozzle types and gate styles used, the function of the manifold and melt channel considerations, manifold and nozzle temperature control, and how to use hot runners with stack molds and multimaterial injection molding processes. Also reviewed in the program are recommended troubleshooting and safety techniques and proper hot runner setup, startup, and shutdown procedures. The final lesson identifies common molding problems and describes procedures to help employees maintain and optimize the hot runner injection molding process.

The full version of the program will be available in January 2002; a free demo CD is available by calling Paulson or visiting the company?s website.
