Recent EU acquisitions in addition to its other global locations have established MGS as a single-source partner to healthcare customers in North America, Europe, and beyond, said the company.

It’s been a very busy year for injection molder and contract manufacturer MGS. It acquired Technolution, a Danish medtech product development firm, in June and followed that up with the purchase of moldmaker Winther Mould Technology, also based in Denmark, in October. Back home at its Germantown, WI, headquarters, MGS broke ground on a 120,000-square-foot Innovation Center in September. These acquisitions — supplementing the purchase of European toolmaker Formteknik in 2021 — and enhancements to its manufacturing operations not just in the United States but also in Mexico and Ireland, have led the company to announce a repositioning and rebranding.

Brand focused solely on healthcare industry

“Best known for its rich history as a leading manufacturer of complex tooling, automation technologies, and high-precision plastic components, [MGS] has taken a bold move forward in the positioning of its new brand,” the company said in today’s announcement. The brand, focused solely on the healthcare industry, elevates MGS’ status as a single-source solutions provider to global pharmaceutical, diagnostic, and medtech companies, it added.

The specifics of the rebranding include a new visual identity manifested through its logo and color palette, a revamped website, and inclusion of “Healthcare Manufacturing” in the company logo. The company name remains MGS, a spokesperson stressed, but the Healthcare Manufacturing cutline in the logo provides a “more immediate understanding of the company’s focus,” they said.

The aforementioned acquisitions enable the company to offer “true end-to-end solutions as a single-source partner to customers in North America, Europe, and beyond,” MGS told PlasticsToday. “This was the impetus for delineating a new brand that would represent the company’s global value proposition.”

Future global expansion may include Costa Rica

As reported earlier this year in PlasticsToday, the new Innovation Center will include collaborative workspaces, Class 7 and 8 cleanrooms, and a dedicated quality lab to deliver early product development innovations from a single location — without disruption to its manufacturing environments. MGS said it also continues to evaluate opportunities to serve customers in new locations — including the exploration of a new facility in Costa Rica. The company currently operates 12 facilities globally.

“Our new mission is to leverage our expertise and vertically integrated capabilities to transform our customers’ most pressing challenges into innovations that improve lives,” said MGS President and CEO Paul Manley. “For our customers, this means access to robust capabilities — from product design to full assembly — combined with the strong customer focus and seamless collaboration of an agile partner. For our employees, this means we can make a meaningful difference in peoples’ lives in the work we do every day.”
