Thermoforming machine manufacturer Kiefel (Freilassing, Germany) has opened its own subsidiary in São Paulo, Brazil, called Kiefel do Brasil, to take advantage of what it deems to be significant growth opportunities for the company in the packaging, automotive, and medical markets.

Kiefel’s new Thermorunner machines drew a crowd at the firm’s open house; it hopes for a similar welcome in Brazil.

Kiefel sees potential in the Brazilian packaging industry, particularly with its Speedformer pressure forming machines and its Thermorunner range of machines for thermoforming of cups.

The local branch is managed by Patrick Claassens, who has been living in Brazil for years and has experience working in the medical device market for Colpitt and Diamed.

During its in-house exhibition last fall, Kiefel introduced two larger machines in its KTR Speed range. The Thermorunner KTR 4 Speed and KTR 5 Speed cup forming machines, as with others in the range, operate with individual zone controls, which ensure that heat is distributed consistently over the complete forming surface and into the roll-fed film. The system offers selection between metal or ceramic heating elements. [email protected]
