The European Parliament is considering deregulation of laws that limit the size of packaging in different European countries. Some countries place limits on how small or large packaging may be, limiting processors and their customers options. A few limits are even European-wide.
Exceptions likely will be wine and liquor bottles, and the rules governing packaging size of coffee, butter, milk, sugar, and some other common products will be relaxed over time. The newly relaxed rules will take effect in 2009. One consequence of the new rules could be that more processors will be tasked with supplying smaller packaging that better serves the increasing number of single-person households in Europe.[email protected]
