Blown- and cast-film equipment maker Macchi (Italy) is emphasizing the importance of its cooperation with electronics giant Siemens for both its control systems and energy-efficient linear motors, now standard on all this company’s blown-film models. Due to this partnership, processors ordering lines can specify a new wireless operator panel that offers operators both simplicity in operations and special graphics. This system includes a teleservice system that permits technicians, wherever they are, to wirelessly connect (via audio and video) to the line in order to identify and resolve possible faults. Remote access is only permitted when the processor requests this feature. It eliminates the need for a technician to come to a factory and is intended to ensure as much uptime as possible. —[email protected]
