Center offers simultaneous five-axis machining

Article-Center offers simultaneous five-axis machining

Building on the designs of previous Mikron models, the UCP 1150 features a versatile, tilting milling head and a heavy-load rotary table for simultaneous five-axis machining. Refined cross-bed construction ensures large axis movements with unrestricted access. The machining center features a stable, low-vibration base structure and generous guideways and drives to increase precision and surface quality for workpieces. Rotation of up to 135° can be achieved with the milling head with integrated motor spindle. The swivel axis can be either rotated simultaneously or indexed degree by degree.

In 1.7 seconds, the UCP 1150 can be switched from a vertical to a horizontal orientation. The 1000-mm-diameter rotary/tilt table can handle loads up to 1000 kg with a rotational speed of up to 40 rpm. Spindle choices offered are 12,000, 15,000, and 24,000 rpm. A tool changer system installed outside the work area reduces tool changing time and comes standard with an integrated 30-position magazine. Also available are 46- or 92-position tool magazines. The controls, tool changer, and machining process can be controlled from one location using a Heidenhain iTNC 530 control system.
