Thanks to its low feed height, a new beside-the-press granulator can accept material via a sprue picker, a conveyor, or by hand. The Regulo 612?s 50-inch feed height creates a compact machine, while a soundproofed hopper provides quiet operation. Knife changes, cleaning, and other regular maintenance are made easier by an access door. A 6-by-6-inch feedthroat opens to a cutting chamber with two bed knives and a three-blade staggered rotor that has 12 knives. The steep-angle knives create a scissor-like cutting motion. The disposable knives simplify maintenance by eliminating sharpening, and a reversible screen reduces overall dust. The unit operates at 236 rpm with reportedly minimal fines. Material is unable to accumulate between knives and sidewalls thanks to rotating side plates. Low-speed, high-torque operation is possible because of a motor that runs at 230, 460, or 575V. For safety purposes, interlocks prevent operation when the cutting chamber is open, and an emergency stop button is standard on all units.
