SPI reported that excluding exhibitor registrations, which are lumped with show totals, foreign registration was up 33% over 2003 and accounted for 24% of all NPE 2006 registrations. In addition, although total registration was up only slightly, exhibitor registration was down, so that the number of visitors actually walking the show was up 9% over 2003.
In the end, a total of 1850 companies exhibited occupying 949,500 sq ft of floorspace. Exhibitors were down 4% compared to 2003, but SPI attributed that to overall industry consolidation. Hong Kong and Mainland China picked up much of the slack, sending 127 companies-the largest foreign contingent-up from only 27 in 2003. In terms of visitors, show attendees came from 126 countries, with Canada accounting for the most followed by Mexico and China.
