Robots target smaller machines

Article-Robots target smaller machines

Automation has become a fixture on all sizes of molding machines, but the emphasis has primarily been on larger presses. Now a new line of robots will cater specifically to small and midsize machines. The IT and ITW Series bring automation to molders operating presses with clamp sizes of less than 1000 tons. Designed for machines ranging in size from 50 to 550 tons, the IT Series robot?s vertical stroke ranges from 650 to 1000 mm; its traverse stroke covers 1200 to 1500 mm. The robot?s manageable payload tops out at between 10 and 20 lb.

The ITW Series boasts telescoping arms and is compatible with machines ranging from 50 to 850 tons. The robot?s arm design covers a vertical stroke of 700 to 1700 mm while the traverse stroke moves between 1200 and 2000 mm. Payload capacity for the ITW Series is between 10 and 27 lb. Both lines feature servo controls, teach and memory functions, and a central production management system. A color LCD display with touch-screen controls and handheld controller reportedly increases ease of operation.
