Wittman Battenfeld will show a next-generation micro injection molding machine with a two-step injection unit at NPE 2012. The injection unit in the all-electric MicroPower, offered with clamping forces of 5 and 15 tonnes, consists of a screw and a plunger, with a shot volume ranging from 0.05 to 4 cm³. The benefit of the system is a thermally homogeneous melt, improving part repeatability and reducing cycle times, says a spokesman for Wittman Battenfeld. It comes with auxiliary equipment designed for nano and micro parts. Cost can be reduced by 30 to 50% compared to standard machines, according to the company.
