Empire Precision Plastics expands optics capabilities

Empire Precision Plastics, based in Rochester, NY, announced the acquisition of passive infrared lens fabrication equipment formerly owned by Orafol Display Optics, further expanding its ability to serve customers in the optics market.

Empire has served the optics industry since 2012, executing the design, tooling and manufacture of support components for injection molded polymer optic applications worldwide, including OED illumination systems and imaging, scanning and detection applications. The company produces injection molded aspheric and free-form lenses and mirrors, as well as passive infrared and diffractive optics.

Additionally, Empire has in-house capabilities to provide custom diamond-turned and injection molded prototypes, thin film and reflective coatings and integrated optical solutions for a range of military, medical, commercial and consumer markets. Empire Precision is certified to ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 3485:2012.

"Empire is pleased to be able to offer our customers even greater support for their varied optics applications," said Empire President Neal Elli. "We look forward to discussing these solutions at Photonics West, booth 633, at the Moscone Center in San Francisco on February 16 to 18."
