Strength,growth in the Far East

Debuting this month is the first in a quarterly series of reports on the apparent and projected consumption of injection molding machines around the world.

Data in this report are based on information collected from injection molding machine manufacturers and various government and industry associations. Shown is consumption of molding machines in a given country. All machine types are included: thermoplastic, thermoset, MIM, and CIM. The totals for each country are calculated using this formula: quantity of machines produced in the country, plus the number of machines imported into the country, minus the number of machines exported. These figures do not account for machines purchased in one country and used in another.

With cooperation from most key sources, we believe the data here are accurate to within 10 percent and account for about 75 percent of total worldwide consumption. At this time we do not have sufficient data to provide information on machinery consumption in Turkey, Russia, the Middle East, all of Africa, most of South America, and east European countries that comprised the former Warsaw Pact.

Projections are based on economic growth trends as well as known data on new machinery orders. These data are collected for IMM exclusively by Agostino von Hassell and The Repton Group LLC, New York, NY.
